Y’all. I have been MIA and for that I am sorry! 2018 has been filled with blog planning and rebranding (yay! Stay tuned for some fun changes!) plus Landon and I are deep in the house buying process, and my goodness is that a feat! We have some exciting changes for The Everyday Hostess this year, but we’ve needed some time to just take a breath and focus all our planning efforts.

During this exciting time, we have been very reflective of 2017. What an incredible year and one that will be hard to ever beat! Landon and I got married in June, both started new roles at work, started our new little Etsy shop and continued to grow The Everyday Hostess.

We are so grateful for each and every one of you following our journey and, of course, our favorite parties, so here’s a little recap of all the greatness 2017 had to offer!

Wedding Wednesdays

As we prepared for our wedding, we launched a new series called Wedding Wednesdays where we shared all our wedding planning tips and tricks we learned along the way. We covered a host of categories including:

For every party, we all want those jaw-dropping uber creative menus that all our guests will be talking about long after the event, don’t we? I always envision my guests oohing and aahing over every dish they taste and just marveling in the originality of it. But let’s be honest. Not every dish we make can be that innovative and unique. Every party and event needs one of our favorite basic no-fail recipes, where we can just kick our feet up and know that it will be a success.

For me, Rice Krispie Treats can be just the ticket! I mean who doesn’t love a good Rice Krispie Treat? They instantly create a sense of nostalgia and remind us of a fun childhood memory. Plus they are an easy festive bite that you can customize to any party.

I recently incorporated them into our Ghoul’s Night Out Halloween Party, and they gave it the perfect spooktacular flare! I dressed them up by dipping them in white chocolate and then rolled them in some fun Halloween sprinkles! I grabbed some orange paper straws to use as sticks and voila! An adorable and festive Rice Krispie Pop perfect for your upcoming party! Change up the sprinkles and straw color, and you’ve got yourself a treat for any birthday party theme or holiday!

Easter is just around the corner, so you know what that means! Time to start decorating, picking out your favorite Easter recipes, and putting together your Easter baskets for your loved ones!

So often, we think only our littles would enjoy an Easter basket! I mean what else can you put in a basket besides our kids favorite, candy, toys, movies, and stuffed animals?!

Well if you ask me, everyone deserves an Easter basket this year, no matter what age! You just need to be a little creative about what you put in it! To help spur a little creativity, Swoozies and I have partnered up and I have put together the perfect Easter basket for the 20 or 30 something year old gal! This basket is centered all around you and what the ladies want this year! So check it out!

Where has this year gone?! I can’t believe Valentine’s Day is just a few short days away! As you all know, this year is just absolutely crazy getting ready for our wedding in June, plus my best friend is getting married a couple weeks after us, so we are filled to the brim with exciting wedding prep and parties!

With showers and meetings galore, I have to admit, our Valentine’s Day celebrations are not as elaborate as they have been in years past (remember our Valentine’s Brunch last year?). This year we are taking it a little bit slower and enjoying an intimate dinner for two at home, which is actually perfect since we have been running, running, running so much. I’m really looking forward to a quiet night at home with my fiance.

To create a quiet and more relaxed environment, I wanted a formal and classic dinner table set up this year. I started with a sweetheart table dressed in a white tablecloth with pink and gold accents. Once I set the table, it just looked too plain to me, SO, I employed my new favorite dinner party trick! I found the cutest gold lip wrapping paper (yes, wrapping paper!) from Swoozies and cut it into the shape of my table and used that as the table topper! It put a whole new spin on my table and was exactly what I was looking for! It took literally no time to set the table, but the patterned wrapping paper gave it a very intentional and styled look.

Does this not just completely change the look?! I am so thrilled with how it turned out. It still looks formal and more traditional, but has a certain pop to it that really brings the whole table to life!

If you saw our recent post with WFAA on How to Create Your Own Winter Wonderland, you know that I’m all about the snowy and winter white Christmas decor this year! Being from Colorado, I grew up with a winter wonderland outside where all of our Christmases were white. The colder weather, snow dusted trees, and glowing lights is what made Christmas feel so magical as a kid. So being down here in Texas, with temperatures still in the 70’s some days, has been a bit of a shock!

To help keep the magic of Christmas alive for these Texas kiddos, my friend Summer Adams with She Leaves a Little Sparkle (if you don’t follow her already, hop on over to her blog and shop! She is one the absolute sweetest and most creative people I know!) and I decided to host a chic winter wonderland party for her kids and their friends! And to bring this whole party to life, we teamed up with our incredible friends at Pottery Barn Kids here in Dallas on Knox Street to adorn this party with the most festive decor and furniture!

To set the wintery and snowy scene, we started by hanging Pottery Barn Kids’ (PBK) Fa La La Glitter Garland and Oversized Felt Snowflakes in the trees.

We created the coziest little spot for the girls with PBK’s Faux Fur Lounge Chair, Shimmer Velvet Dusty Blush Anywhere Chair, and faux fur throw pillows. To give it that extra playful vibe for the girls, we added our favorite Green Flocked Trees,  Plush Bears, and Reindeer! I wish I could lounge here all day!
